Celebrating Les Corts: My Poster Design Journey
I recently took part in a design contest for the official poster of the Festa Major de Les Corts. Although my entry didn't win, I'm thrilled to share the creative process behind my submission.
This project was an exercise of love, not only because of my connection with Les Corts but also because I had the chance to wander around, taking pictures and analyzing its shapes and colors along my journey. It was both a personal and professional journey where I had the pleasure to combine some of my most loved activities.
My approach was to craft a design that highlights the subtle yet significant details of Les Corts. I explored the neighborhood, photographing its most notable buildings and sculptures to develop a custom color palette. The geometric layout of the poster is inspired by the renowned modernist architecture and stained glass windows found throughout the area. With this exercise, I intended to bring a synthetic approach to the way we see traditions, a connection and evolution.
This poster is also a reflection of my love and passion for the subtle details—those little quotidian things that often go unnoticed but truly give sense and personality to everything. As a lover of details, I couldn't resist working to find the tiniest abstractions of relevant elements, like the jewels from the Queen and King, the fine lines decorating the glass windows in the most beautiful buildings of Les Corts, and the colors of its parks, roofs, and the remnants of Colonia Castells. It was an amazing exercise and a beautiful experience for me.
This project allowed me to combine my love for graphic design with my admiration for Les Corts, resulting in a piece that is both visually striking and deeply personal.
